DIGITAL FORENSICS
Digital Forensics for Divorce and Custody Questions
You saved a screenshot of a custody pickup change, but it cuts off the time. Or you received a sign-in alert after separating and want to know what happened on your phone. Tell Alibi Investigations what you want to establish. We coordinate a specialist review of the phone, computer or records you are authorized to provide.

Questions your own device may help answer
Messages about a custody exchange
A screenshot may leave out the message that changed the plan. A specialist can compare it with the conversation on your device and put the available messages in order, including dates and times.
Suspected infidelity
If a message you received has raised concerns about your relationship, a specialist can examine the original on your phone, including the sender information and timestamp it displays. Those details alone cannot establish an affair.
Unfamiliar sign-ins after separation
If you receive a sign-in alert for your own account after a breakup, a specialist can compare it with available device activity. That may help explain the alert even when the records cannot identify who signed in.
Before you send screenshots or a phone
What if all I have is a screenshot?
Start with that. Tell us who captured it and whether the original thread is still on a device you control. A screenshot may preserve the words while leaving out the date, the sender details or the messages immediately before it.
What if a message is missing?
Tell us the app, the device and roughly when you last saw the message. A specialist can assess whether an existing backup or a forensic copy may help. Recovery depends on what the device or backup still contains. Keep your originals and speak with Alibi before trying a recovery app.
Which device can I bring?
Start with your own phone or computer. If a device is shared or belongs to someone else, describe the situation before sending anything. Alibi checks authorization before an examination.
If your concern goes beyond a device, explore our child custody investigations or marital investigations.
What a digital timeline can tell you
Suppose a screenshot says “I’ll be there at six.” The original thread on your phone might show that the message arrived at 5:42 p.m. and that an earlier message named a different pickup spot. A timeline can put those details together, identify the source of each entry and flag any gap. Whether someone read the message before pickup is a separate question.
What to have ready for the call
Tell Alibi which device you have, roughly when the event happened and the question you want answered. We’ll discuss who can authorize the review, whether the specialist needs the device and what the work would cost before you decide. Keep names, passwords and message contents out of the contact form.
